Drawing from science fiction, Greek tragedy, and creation myths, Hypostasis is an imagined origin story of our collaboration. The Hypostasis video series visualizes the main characters in the story, The Mothers, and their early attempts at fusing their two discrete bodies into one.

Told by three different narrators and a chorus, the story of Hypostasis traces a journey of desire, creation, loss and sacrifice. Two primordial Mothers live on a pair of worlds that periodically cross each other's orbits, causing a seasonal cycle of complete dissolution and reformation. The Mothers are the only creatures not subject to this upheaval. Seeking company in their immutability, they set out to make the Child. They conduct experiments, part ritual and part alchemical, and after much failure, they bear Thorn. But there is a consequence for their methods and they must fend off her inevitable impermanence.
